Beaver and Eagle Adventure kayaking in Scappoose Bay

Kayaking in Scappoose Bay offers a great opportunity for adventure for the whole family. You never know what you'll see.

"My wife and I went kayaking in 2 tandem kayaks with our 3 daughters ages 4,6, and 10. They loved it. We saw some beaver dens and a bald eagle. We packed a lunch and ate it in the kayaks. I was worried my little one might be bored, but Scappoose Bay Kayaking gave her her own small paddle and she had a great time. We'll definitely be back and the whole adventure cost about the same as going out to a movie with popcorn."

I am not an expert kayaker, but I have gone with friends to rent kayaks at Scappoose Bay. The kayaks are very stable and it is easy to learn how to paddle. The bay is calm and quiet, which is good for new paddlers. If you are feeling more adventurous and you know how to paddle, it's just a short trip out into Multnomah Channel, and from there you can head out into the Columbia River and around Sand Island.

We saw an amazing number of birds in Scappoose Bay, including herons, osprey, eagles and ducks. I never knew that herons were so noisy!

After our kayak trip we headed to Old Town for pizza and a pint at Plantation Pizza. It was a great way to spend a day.
