Vernonia Mountain Bike Skills Park
Located in a park that once contained the world's largest covered lumber mill, the Vernonia Mountain Bike Skills Park emphasizes progression and a family-friendly environment. The park has connectivity to the Banks-Vernonia and Crown Zellerbach Trails and is adjacent to a primitive campground and down a trail from an RV campground. There are B&Bs close by as well.
Trails are hard packed dirt, muddy in some places and grass covered in others- perfect for beginners and cyclocross training. There is about a mile and a half of finished trail including a loop and offshoots. But the park's plan calls for a pump track, a graduated "North Shore"-style riding area, three dirt jump lines and a dual slalom practice course.
Watch for trail-building events. Come out to build and ride.
